The film starts with the veteran thespian Harish Mishra, he is gravely ill. The punishments of a film shoot have left the old man in a coma. His co-star, Shabnam, is wracked with worry, but their director, Siddharth, keeps strangely distant and refuses to visit his ailing star. In flashbacks, their story emerges.

Deadline has confirmed that Peacock is working on a documentary series that will follow the family of accused Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Rex Heuermann as they cope with his upcoming trial and their shattered lives. 　　Some reports have indicated that the family will receive upwards of $1 million for participating. Peacock had no comment on the alleged payment. 　　Heuermann stands accused of the murders of Amber Lynn Costello, 27, Melissa Barthelemy, 24, and Megan Waterman, 22, whose remains were found on Gilgo Beach in Long Island, New York between 2010 and 2011. He is also a suspect in several other killings in that area.

Rex Is Not Your Lawyer was a proposed legal drama from actor Andrew Leeds and novelist David Lampson. A pilot was shot in December 2009, starring David Tennant, Jerry O'Connell, Abigail Spencer, Jane Curtin and Jeffrey Tambor, but was not picked up, and the project was shelved.
